Television actor, Dheeraj Dhoopar, is currently appearing on the second season of Lock Upp as a contestant. Since the launch episode, Dheeraj created headlines after he was accused of being ego-friendly, but he seemingly avoided debating the same by stating that if it is people’s opinion, then they can live with it.
However, Dheeraj’s new actions on Lock Upp 2 have once again brought him into the spotlight, where he opened up about his experience with the LGBTQ+ community over the years.
Dheeraj Dhoopar said that he feels comfortable around gays
The fifth episode of Lock Upp 2 witnessed the contestants having a discussion about sexual identity and society’s opinion about it. The topic was about whether sexuality is someone’s identity, a part of them, or something created by society’s perception. The contestants found that a majority of people hide their sexual identity since they have a fear of being judged by everyone.
While Sufi Motiwala was spotted getting emotional as he spoke up about the problems that he has been dealing with due to his sexuality, Dheeraj Dhoopar said that he felt comfortable around gays. He addressed the same by saying:
“I am so comfortable around gays. Lagta hi nahi hai. Personally, mera yeh opinion hai ki they are better human beings. They are more sensitive towards everything. They are wonderful.”
Notably, Harshad Chopda had a completely different take on the matter, as he recalled trying to avoid an interaction with someone who was gay. Harshad said that he did a ramp walk once and did not get paid since he had to go home to collect the payment. Harshad said that he used to run away from such people in the past, and he made an excuse about a shoot and left when he met someone a few days ago. Harshad also stated:
“When I met him now, I went to him and told him ki ‘Sorry I did not know how to deal with the situation.’ I am not a confrontational person. Phattu insaan hoon. Maybe it takes me longer but mujhe darr lagta tha.”
Kangana Ranaut calls out Dheeraj Dhoopar in the new glimpse of the upcoming episode
The upcoming episode of Lock Upp 2 is already creating curiosity as a new glimpse revealed that Kangana Ranaut, the host of Season 1, called out a few contestants. This includes Ram Kapoor and Dheeraj Dhoopar. Kangana can be seen addressing Dheeraj for not speaking up on the show and taking charge of his game. Kangana also tells Dheeraj:
“You’re calling yourself Shah Rukh Khan. You don’t even have the ‘S’ of Shah Rukh Khan, man. You don’t have the main character energy at all. Side mein.. side mein.. side mein… You’re completely getting sidelined.”
Kangana’s comments are believed to be referring to a moment that happened in the launch episode. Host Riteish Deshmukh read three statements and told Dheeraj to reveal which one of those was true. One of those statements claimed that Dheeraj believes that he is Shah Rukh Khan. Notably, Dheeraj continuously claimed that all three statements about him are not true.
Co-host Farah Khan told Dheeraj that all three statements were true. She then showed Dheeraj a photo that he posted on social media, featuring half of his face on one side and Shah Rukh Khan’s face on the other. However, Dheeraj clarified the meaning of the post by saying that he loves Shah Rukh Khan and wants to be like him.
