Rajesh Kumar has been a common face on TV shows who rose to fame with the role of ‘Rosesh Sarabhai’ in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. He also impressed fans with his stint in shows like Bhootwala Serial, Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale, Belan Wali Bahu, Kota Factory and more. But, despite being a regular on TV, he faced a rough patch in his career and decided to start farming. He also brought his farming business idea to Shark Tank India but was disappointed after he wasn’t given a chance to sit down and discuss his idea with the ‘sharks’ or investors on the show. In a recent interview, he spoke about the same and took a subtle dig at Shaadi.com’s founder, Anupam Mittal.
Rajesh Kumar reveals how lack of funds brought a major financial loss for him
Rajesh Kumar recently sat down for an interview with Hindi Rush, where he opened up about his failed farming business and rejection at Shark Tank India. The actor shared that he had lost a massive Rs. 2.5-3 crore in his organic farming business and decided to grow and sell organic fruits and vegetables. Rajesh highlighted that he talked to many investors and couldn’t raise the required funds at the right time because they didn’t understand his idea.
The Kota Factory actor added that he couldn’t understand technical terms like ‘bootstrapped’ or ‘burn’, which became a disadvantage. However, Rajesh believes he always spoke everything from his heart, and his business had begun to fail despite having numbers. He mentioned that once, he also got duped by an app developer, wasting more of his time and money. Recalling his experience on Shark Tank India, he said:
“When I went on Shark Tank, this is what I wanted to communicate. You aren’t from some other planet. You have made a lot of money, you have the resources, please market this. You should help me because there are things that I lack. At least sit with me.”
Rajesh Kumar calls out Anupam Mittal’s Shaadi.com
In the same conversation, Rajesh Kumar called out the shark, Anupam Mittal’s brand, Shaadi.com, which matches potential bride and groom. He said that if they can make money by getting two people married, who they didn’t know, why can’t they hear him? The actor added that corporate and business people have a lot of money, and their smallest contribution can bring a major change in the country’s agriculture sector. He said:
“You can get two people married and make money by becoming a pandit, but how much have you invested in their wedding? You are making those two people meet, but do you even know them? You don’t.”

What happened with Rajesh Kumar on Shark Tank India?
Previously, Rajesh Kumar sat down for a conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, where he talked at length about his experience with Shark Tank India. He shared that he applied for the show as a candidate and cleared two rounds. Since they had to share videos, he thought he would benefit due to his recognised face. Moreover, his father paid for his tickets as he went to Kolkata to give the presentation. But, after not getting a chance to talk with the investors on the show, he was rejected.
