Hannah Berner is apologizing after an awkward interview with Megan Thee Stallion went viral.
The 33-year-old Giggly Squad podcast host spoke out following intense backlash on social media for her choice of words when interviewing the 30-year-old “Body” rapper on the red carpet at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday (March 2) in Los Angeles.
During the interview, Hannah pointed out that she watched Megan‘s In Her Words Prime Video documentary, and excitedly said “your music has literally — when I want to fight someone, I listen to your music.”
Megan responded with: “Because you want to throw that fighting s—t out the window and you want to get cute and be a bad b—h.”
Hannah went on and said: “When people are talking s—t, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion!’” She then noted that she was a fan of Megan’s In Her Words documentary that premiered on Amazon Prime Video in October 2024.
Many viewers felt that the interaction was a “microaggression,” with some labeling it as “racist” and expressing confusion and anger for associating Megan‘s music with fighting, which is not subject matter she brings up. Others also pointed out that Megan intentionally tried to sway the conversation to the actual subject matter of her songs, saying “Body-ody-ody, I look beautiful, I look so great!”

Less than one week later, Hannah spoke out on her Instagram Story.
“Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine. I love her music and It’s my go to whenever I need to boost my confidence before a show,” she began.
“Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except ‘fight’ to describe how her songs impact me.”
“It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan. I appreciate everyone who brought this to my attention,” she went on to say.
Megan has even spoken out about her aversion to fighting in the past.
“My God let me tell you fighting is so ugly,” she said in a 2020 interview with Genius. “Look, nails long. Girls is paying $80 to get their nails done… Do you know nails just go up.”
