Shortly after deleting his earlier post, in which he alleged that his parents’ actions had led him to distance himself from his family, Amaal took to his Instagram Stories once again to set the record straight. The singer-composer announced that he and his brother, Armaan are still going strong, and things remain unchanged between them. Amaal penned:
“Thank you for the love and support it truly means a lot, but I would request the media portals to not harass my family… Please don’t sensationalise & give negative headlines to my vulnerability… It’s a request. It’s taken a lot for me to open up & it is a very tough time for me…I will always love my family but for now, from afar. Nothing changes between us brothers, Armaan and I are one and nothing can come between us. Love and Peace.”
Amaal Mallik speaks out on depression and family strain
On March 20, 2025, Amaal Mallik left the nation shocked with his emotional revelations. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Amaal candidly opened up about his struggles with clinical depression. He revealed that ongoing tensions with his family, particularly his parents, led him to make the difficult decision to limit their relationship strictly to professional matters. He wrote:
“Today, with a heavy heart, I announce that I am stepping away from these personal ties. From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional. This isn’t a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life.”

In his earlier post, Amaal also revealed that his strained relationship with his parents, Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik, has taken a toll on his mental health. Despite a decade-long career composing 126 songs, he said he felt ‘overlooked and unappreciated’, which deeply affected his self-esteem. He wrote:
“Over the years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being and belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, and my self-confidence… What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings.”
