The invention of the phone was meant to bring society closer. However, it seems like it has done the exact opposite as people continue to be consumed by the digital world. While social media and connectivity apps have brought those far away closer, it appears that it has also made people forget those who are with them.
A mother forgets her child in a park while talking on the phone
Recently, a video has surfaced online which shows how digital life has affected a person’s real life. A clip was shared by Mint News on March 9, 2025, which showed a woman who had left her child behind in a park while she continued to talk on the phone. While the mother, unaware of her action, left the park, a man was seen following her with a little kid in his arms.Â
At the beginning of the video, a woman can be seen talking on the phone as a man calls on a woman, asking the people standing by to stop her. The man can be heard yelling, ‘Oh Madam! Hello, bula re usko.’ However, it takes a while before people can get her attention. Upon realizing that her child was with a stranger, the mother rushes back and takes her kid from him. The man further confirmed if the child was hers and stated:
“Ary madam, kya yaar. Aapka hi baccha hai na?”
Netizens react to the viral video
The video has raised concerns about parents being distracted and putting their kids in harm’s way. While some users pointed out how it was very careless of the mother, others speculated that she had intentionally left her child in the park. A user wrote, “This was 100% intentional. Serious FIR should be done, and the baby should be kept away from her for a while.” Another chimed, “She intentionally did that… Nowadays, moral values and social and family responsibility are on the decline.” A user penned, “She wanted to get rid of the baby.”

Soon, the video made its way to the discussion platform, Reddit. Some netizens speculated that she must’ve left the child in the park because the baby was a girl and penned, “No mother will ever forget her child. I think she left her knowingly ( as she is a girl child).” Another penned, “Bachha gaya bhadme pehle phone dekh leti hoon.” A user even stated how not every human deserved to be a parent; their comment read, “Every child deserves parents, but not every parent deserves a child.” A user also defended the mother and stated:
“Not fake and neither out of the realm of possibility. It’s a very young kid, so a high possibility that the mother is highly sleep deprived. And kind of on auto-pilot mode. Happens at times in the case of new parents. For everyone speculating that she wanted to leave the kid behind. Why wouldn’t she do it at odd hours then, where the possibility of someone seeing you is really low.”
