Prime Video is revving up its Indian originals slate with “Dupahiya,” a heartland comedy series that blends small-town charm with a quirky caper.

The nine-episode series, which marks the debut production from Bombay Film Cartel banner, follows the mayhem that erupts in the fictional village of Dhadakpur when a prized motorcycle goes missing just as the community is about to celebrate 25 years of being crime-free. The show’s title “Dupahiya” translates to “two-wheeler” in Hindi.

Helmed by Sonam Nair, the series features veteran actors Gajraj Rao (“Badhaai Ho”) and Renuka Shahane (“Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!”) alongside rising stars Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi and character actor Yashpal Sharma.

Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani serve as creators and executive producers under their Bombay Film Cartel banner, with the script penned by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.

“The series beautifully blends humor, heart, and the essence of small-town India in a way that feels both distinctive and universally relatable,” says Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India. He adds that the show aligns with the streamer’s strategy of providing a platform to fresh storytellers and female-led productions.

Director Nair describes the series as “a celebration of humor, chaos, and the quirks of small-town life,” while creators Joshi and Shivdasani underline its focus on “family, fun and the universal dreams of everyday people.”

The series will stream in India and across 240+ countries and territories worldwide beginning March 7, joining Prime Video India’s expanding roster of originals that includes hits like “Paatal Lok,” “Mirzapur,” “Poacher” and “Indian Police Force.”
