What Happened in ‘Bel Air’ Series Finale? Huge Star Makes Surprise Cameo in Final Episode!

Bel Air has come to an end!

The Peacock show, a reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is now streaming its final three episodes after four seasons.

After multiple cameos by original show stars over the years, one very big star from the original show finally showed up to say goodbye.

In the final moments of Bel Air, none other than the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith, appeared in a cameo, per Deadline.

His character is essentially the character of Will in the future, giving advice to his younger self, although his role is up for interpretation as a vision of some kind.

Jabari Banks, who plays Will, drives with Carlton (Olly Sholotan) and Jazz (Jordan L. Jones) to a scenic area before he heads off to the University of Pennsylvania, where he was accepted early into the Business program.

While taking in the view in a moment to himself, Will shows up.

“Steppin’ into the future is kinda scary, huh?” he says.

“Nah, I’m cool,” Will (the character) responds.

“It’s okay, I won’t tell your boys,” Will goes on as they laugh and go on to talk about leaving home and fears about the future.

“I don’t know, it sounds like you’ve got it all figured out, OG,” Will (the character) says.

“Oh no, no, sir. Trust me, you’re going to mess some things up and do some dumb s–t. But, you’re human. You’ll learn, you’ll grow,” Will responds.

It’s been 35 years since he first played the character!

Series creator Morgan Stevenson Cooper spoke about the scene after it premiered.

“It’s a beautiful, emotional scene. I’m so proud of Jabari, because to stand and act with Will Smith, you know, he’s the most iconic actor of our time. Jabari approached that scene with so much heart and so much fearlessness. Those are big shoes to fill, and every step of the way he has risen to the occasion. I couldn’t be more proud of him. … Will also brought so much heart into that moment. It was incredible to direct those two together, and it was the perfect way to cap off this seven-year journey of bringing Bel-Air to life,” he told TV Line.

He also explained that the cameo nearly didn’t happen due to scheduling. And as for the meaning?

“I mean, it’s open to interpretation. Thematically, it was sort of just this reassurance as he’s going back to Philly that all of the things Bel-Air poured into him, he is going to be able to now carry that guy forward. [In Season 1], his initial fear was wanting to hold on to the Philly side of himself, so we’ve seen him come full-circle. Now he’s like, gosh, I like who I became out here. Can I be that kid? Can I take that back with me? And then he sees his future self, who says, ‘Yeah, you’re going to be OK,’” he told the outlet.

There’s also big news regarding his involvement in the next Men In Black.
