Bad Bunny made an impassioned speech against ICE while accepting his award for best música urbana album at the Grammys (he went on to win the night’s top category, album of the year). “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” he said. “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
Next week, he’ll perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in his highly anticipated debut as headliner. While President Donald Trump and many of his conservative supporters criticized the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reaffirmed his support for the musician following his Grammys speech, saying “Bad Bunny is, and I think that was demonstrated last night, one of the great artists in the world.” He went on to say that “he understood the platform he was on, and that this platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together.”
