The movie explores workplace drama, humour and an interesting love story. The plotline of Office Romance
The movie, Office Romance follows the story of ‘Jackie Cruz’ (played by Jennifer Lopez), the CEO of an airline company, Air Cruz. It was founded by her family. ‘Jackie’ has spent a major amount of her life in building the reputation of the company and being dedicated towards it. One of the most important rules of the company is that two employees cannot have a romantic relationship. However, the story picks up speed when a British lawyer, ‘Daniel’ (played by Brett Goldstein) joins the company and gets an opportunity to work closely with ‘Jackie’.

As ‘Daniel’ and ‘Jackie’ work closely with each other, they discover a spark for each other; however, they try to hide due to the company’s strict policy. Eventually, their chemistry and feelings overpower everything and they fall in love with each other. In the beginning, they try their best to hide it from other employees. A major part of the film involves ‘Daniel’ and ‘Jackie’s’ efforts to hide their relationship. They even share flirtatious glances during meetings and go on a few romantic dates.

Why do ‘Daniel’ and ‘Jackie’ break up?
While everything seems good and smooth in their relationship, ‘Daniel’ and ‘Jackie’ face a major challenge when the latter got involved in a legal battle involving airport access and operations. During this, the third party decides to do a background check, which might uncover the truth about her secret relationship. This terrifies ‘Jackie’ and ‘Daniel’. Eventually, the pressure leads to their breakup. ‘Daniel’ leaves the company and joins another law firm.

Soon after their breakup, both ‘Daniel’ and ‘Jackie’ realise their strong feelings for each other. ‘Jackie’ realises that in her entire life, she has not given priority to her personal life and happiness. Eventually, she decides to leave the company. However, before that she plans a conference. On the other hand, ‘Daniel’ can’t help but think about ‘Jackie’.

The final parts of the romantic movie includes the conference planned by ‘Jackie’. This is her last conference before she officially resigns from her position. As the conference begins, ‘Daniel’ rushes to the venue and publicly confesses his love for ‘Jackie’, in front of reporters, all the other employees and more. ‘Jackie’ gladly accepts it and removes the policy which restricts two employees from forming a romantic relationship. The movie ends on a good and happy note.

Brett Goldstein wrote Office Romance for Jennifer Lopez
For those who do not know, Brett Goldstein, who plays the role of ‘Daniel’ in the movie, Office Romance, co-wrote the film. Weeks before the release of the movie, the Ted Lasso actor had a conversation, during which he revealed that he planned Office Romance only for Jennifer Lopez. And she would have refused, Brett would not have pitched the film to someone else. He was once quoted as saying:
“We thought this was never going to happen. We had never met Jennifer — as far as I was concerned, she was a mythical creature. But we could write it as a dream. So we sent it to her with a note that said, ‘We wrote this for you. You’re at the top of our list. It’s a list of one. If you don’t do this, we’re not going to make this film, but no pressure.
