PJ Washington Accuses Brittany Rennerâs Lawyer of Using Intimidation Tactics In Custody Case
According to court docs filed by PJ Washingtonâs legal team in North Carolina, and obtained by US Weekly, the Dallas Mavericks forward asked a judge to block Brittanyâs push to move the case to California. For context, Brittany reportedly filed a new case in Los Angeles in September 2025, but PJ quickly moved to shut it down. However, a judge hasnât ruled yet. PJ argues that California doesnât have personal jurisdiction over him and says he has zero ties to the state. He reportedly wants a North Carolina judge to deny Brittanyâs motion altogether.
On top of that, PJ claims Brittanyâs California attorney tried to pressure him into agreeing to move the support case West. He alleges the lawyer made threats and even suggested serving him court papers in front of millions during one of his NBA games if he didnât give in.
Alleged Email Reveals Brittanyâs Lawyerâs Plans To Serve PJ
Per US Weekly, an alleged email Brittany Rennerâs lawyer sent to PJâs attorney on November 14, 2025, shows he planned to serve PJ on live television. In the message, the lawyer pointed out that the Mavericks were scheduled to play against the Los Angeles Lakers on November 28, 2025. He wrote that he planned to buy eight seats in one section and serve PJ right at the game.
âThere are currently 8 tickets in Section 102, immediately behind the visitor bench where Mr. Washington will be seated. I plan on purchasing all eight tickets (which are going for the average price of $2,317 per ticket) to ensure that there are no problems with my process server being able to effectuate service.â
Additionally, Rennerâs lawyer added that he hoped things wouldnât escalate to that level. But even with that, Brittanyâs legal team still argued against PJâs claims about California. They said he has played multiple games in the state, so that proves he has ties there.
More About PJ & Brittanyâs Court Case & How Much Heâs Reportedly Paying Her In Child Support
Back in September 2025, Brittany Renner filed a notice in Los Angeles County. This, to make sure she could collect her child support checks in the state. Her custody case with PJ Washington originally started in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Per TMZ in November 2024, a court set PJ up to pay Brittany $5,500 a month, and on top of that, he was reportedly ordered to drop a one-time amount of $130,000. That cash was meant to cover âany and all existing child support accruing prior to the entry of this consent.â However, PJ was reportedly caught up on payments and didnât have arrears.
Last year, Renner apparently wanted to move their case to Californiaâs jurisdiction. Ultimately, a judge has yet to rule on the request.
